The security bulletins that Microsoft releases for vulnerabilities found in its products can now also be followed via an RSS feed, the tech company has announced. Through the Security Update Guide, Microsoft communicates about vulnerabilities found and released patches. The security bulletins contain information about the vulnerable product, such as a description of the problem, CVE number, which fixes are available, and vulnerable versions.
Previously, a Microsoft account was required to receive the security bulletins via email. Recently, Microsoft decided to stop and now any email address can be entered, regardless of whether it is a Microsoft account or not. The tech company said it was asked by customers to make information about the security bulletins also available via an RSS feed, which has now been done. The RSS feed link (XML file) can be added to any RSS application.
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) makes it possible to process all kinds of information from websites and other sources in a well-arranged manner. The first version of RSS, developed by Netscape, appeared in 1999. Despite the age of RSS, it is still very popular.
